This is what gave me the impression back then that the computer will not allow spark to happen if the ECT reaches X values thus somewhat protecting the engine from self distruction. Perhaps it was operating as intended, dono I think to this very day that computer had a bad or corrupt programming table because no one ever mentioned a problem like mine till today. My 87 3.8L once upon a time was having engine stalling resulting in crank but no start.
